1. New Interactive SC County Maps

Take a trip through South Carolina with our new county maps! Always one of the most popular resources on SCIway, our original maps for all 46 counties now boast a larger, clearer design that is completely up-to-date and printer-friendly.

These maps are also interactive. On each map, you can click the name of the county to see useful county links ... click an individual city name to go to its SCIway page ... or click a neighboring county to see its full map.

One of the best things about making our own maps is that we can add information to them as more and more of you share your local knowledge with SCIway and its many visitors. If your town isn't on our maps, let us know. We're committed to making the best SC county maps on the Internet even better.

4. South Carolina Picture Project

One of the best things about living in South Carolina is that everywhere you look, there is so much beauty! And even though our state is small in size, it is great in diversity. We have beaches, rivers, swamps, forests, mountains, and waterfalls. We have large cities and small towns. We have historic homes, elegant bridges, and buildings of extraordinary craftsmanship. When you hear that SC is the spot for "Smiling Faces and Beautiful Places," it's easy to understand why.

In honor of this, SCIway is proud to introduce our South Carolina Picture Project. This online gallery contains over 50 photos and paintings so far, and we add more every week. Anyone can submit his or her image for review. We create unique pages for each selected entry, and we also include descriptions so other people can learn about the special places in our state. Here are some of our favorite examples:

Angel Oak, Johns Island
Peachoid Water Tower, Gaffney
Shrimp Boat, Ladys Island
Palmetto Tree, Mount Pleasant
Table Rock Mountain, Pickens County | More about Table Rock

Of all of the images sent to us, we are especially proud to host a series by Upstate native Rodger Painter. Rodger is an incredible photographer, and he has been uncommonly generous in sharing his work so that everyone – wherever they live – can enjoy the beauty of our state. Click here to see his collection and read our interview with him. Believe us, it's worth the time. You'll be impressed!

6. PBR Oases Update

In the last issue of SCIway News we wrote about a matter of great import, namely the state of Pabst Blue Ribbon in South Carolina. We set out to make a directory of SC bars, restaurants, and other public places with the decency and good will to serve a cold, refreshing PBR.

Well, this project has taken off. We now have over 150 places in the directory, and we just couldn't have done it without your help.

Many SCIway News readers wrote to provide us with addresses, websites, and stories about their favorite watering holes. Business owners let us know about their fine establishments and some even spent time with us in person, allowing us to take photographic proof for the nay-sayers of the world. Thanks to you all!

We'd also like to extend our heart-felt appreciation to the PBR distributors in the state for their cooperation ... and a special thank you to Shawn Hobbes, SC manager for PBR and our new friend.

We hope you'll continue to let us know about family-friendly places in SC that serve PBR. If you own a restaurant and serve PBR, send us your pictures and we'll add them to SCIway. If you don't serve PBR ...well, it's never too late!
